Sculpting Techniques for Round Faces

Create definition and structure with these targeted contouring placements.

For round faces, the goal is to create the illusion of length and angles. By strategically placing shadows and highlights, you can define your jawline and lift your cheekbones for a more sculpted appearance.

Step 1: Find Your Angles

Instead of following the natural curve of your cheek, aim your contour slightly higher and more diagonally. Start from the top of your ear and angle it towards the corner of your mouth, but stop at the outer corner of your eye.

Step 2: Define the Jawline

Apply contour along the underside of your jawbone, blending downwards into the neck. This creates a sharp shadow that helps differentiate the face from the neck, adding instant structure.

Step 3: Slim the Forehead

Apply a small amount of contour to the temples. This narrows the upper part of the face and draws the eye towards the center, creating a more elongated look.

Step 4: Vertical Highlighting

Apply highlighter in vertical lines: down the bridge of the nose, the center of the chin, and the middle of the forehead. This vertical emphasis counteracts the roundness of the face.

Pro Tip: Use a cool-toned contour shade for shadows and a warm-toned bronzer to add life back into the skin. This combination creates the most realistic "sculpted" effect.
